Biographical / Historical

Libby Raymond Yapp was born on May 14, 1924, in Emporia, Kansas, to Paul D. Raymond and Marjorie Raymond. In 1945 she married her high school sweetheart Robert C. Yapp. Her husband and their four children made Des Moines their home in 1959. There, she became involved at Plymouth Congregational Church, her children's schools, scouts, the Des Moines Public Library and the Des Moines Art center. She did a great deal of volunteer work at the Roadside Settlement Pre-school, helping disadvantaged children and families. Libby was a member of P.E.O., Questers antique group (Libby's Learners) and the Iowa Antique Association. She was also a member of the Iowa Foster Care Review Board. She died in 2007.
