Scope and Contents
The Sophia Gilbert papers date from 2021. The papers consist of her honors thesis “’The New Feminisms’: Common Lives/Lesbian Lives and the Direction of Lesbian Organizing During the Reagan-Bush Era”. It follows the transition from the lesbian feminism of the 60’s and 70’s to the lesbian feminism of the 90’s through the lens of the lesbian-feminist quarterly Common Lives/Lesbian Lives.

Sophia Gilbert was a student in the University of Iowa’s History department. She wrote an honors thesis in 2021 with Leslie A. Schwalm as her advisor.
