Scope and Contents

The Vander Wilt Family papers measure 2.5 linear inches and artifacts and date from 1971 to 1991. The collection is split into four series: Basketball (1974-1991), Softball (1973 – 1977), Track and Field (1977), and Artifacts. The largest series is Basketball (1974-1991) and includes box scores, press notes, and a Hampton Girls’ Basketball Guide Book. There are nine Iowa Girls’ High School Athletic Union championship yearbooks dating from 1971-1989. The series Softball (1973-1977) contains state competition programs, and the series Track and Field (1977) also has a state competition program. There are two basketball jerseys, located in a second box under the series Artifacts.

Biographical / Historical

Beth Johnson Vander Wilt was born in 1962 in Hampton, Iowa. She played basketball in high school between 1977 and 1979 in Hampton. Keith Vander Wilt was born in 1951 in Hampton, Iowa. He coached 6-on-6 and 5-on-5 basketball between 1986 and 2000 in Rolfe, Jefferson, and Scranton, Iowa.
