Biographical / Historical
Jill Meadows attended the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. There Meadows co-founded the Medical Students for Choice, an organization advocating for the inclusion of reproductive and sexual healthcare in medical school curriculum. Following her graduation, Meadows completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. She returned to the University of Iowa as a professor and healthcare provider. Meadows was the main second-trimester abortion provider at the hospital. She also served as a liaison between the College of Medicine and the Emma Goldman Clinic, creating opportunities for students to train in reproductive healthcare. In 2010, Jill Meadows became the Medical Director of Planned Parenthood of the Heartland, continuing to provide care and advocate for reproductive rights. Meadows participated in several lawsuits as a plaintiff and expert witness on abortion restrictions, such as waiting periods, informed consent, and access to tele-medicine care.
