This is Cook's original translation from the Latin for the poem that appears in his book, Venantius Fortunatus: A Basket of Chestnuts, page 49. The typed version is done in red and black but in the printed version bold face type was substituted for t -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
