Scope and Contents

This seventy-second page contains an invitation from the Ivy restaurant for a press preview of A TV Dante, torn portions of the green typeface menu Phillips designed for the Ivy and on the right hand side extensive diary writing. He writes "Meanwhile back at base we are still producing the book of seven years ago! John is still at work on the etchings which are being torn (?) down by Lucy who is gradually mastering the making up of full copies. I have sold one copy to Steve Clay... and all in all in the last year or so have sold more copies than any year since the outset. The press launch upstairs at the Ivy seemed to go pretty well...Many more people came than expected. David Attenborough came...and Peter and I were interviewed by many people called Roy with Walkmans and everyone seemed very nice about things...Strange to see an etching of mine in the TV Times, in Time Out, City Limited and the Listener so far....But still no news of process and still no reading of Sir John... back at base Lucy has been stock taking and it begins to look as if the stock of Dante books is in much better shape than I had supposed and that we may have 40 copies left in which case with Steven Clay starting to move them a little I could recoup my losses a little, but must put the price up since I rarely get more tha 5000 pounds for one." -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
