In the upper right hand corner Phillips writes in green ink "The Fatwa year 5 commences and like Dante Salmon continues under sentence of death unable to return from exile. He does not even have the satisfaction of beating me at ping-pong. I do an etching & two lithographs to celebrate. Approaching is the hundredth anniversary of Dreyfus case."
