Scope and Contents
This print depicts a leaf-like, gold image with an narrow orifice superimposed on a page of text (p.221) from the novel, Amerika. The text reads in part ..."she rushed up the stairs, gasping for air, her mouth wide opened... The leaf- like image might be construed as a metaphor for respiration in the plant world and the narrow orifice as restriction to breathing causing "gasping for air." -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
