Scope and Contents

Gray Matter Books: Six 23" x 16" cover stock sheets, folded in quarters to yield 48 "pages". Colophon reads: "typeset by harley loud and published by Strange Faeces Magazine / 3952 fruitvale ave oakland ca 94602 (c) 1982". Cover drawing, "OPAL NATIONS & THE SOULTONES (Slab recording artists)," inscribed "Yours Opal Louis Nations" in blue ballpoint directly over the printed signature. Includes poetry, experimental writing, five illustrations ("ads" that include "T"-Bone Walker for Colgate, Johnny Otis for Foam Shave, The Duke of Earl [Gene Chandler] for 7-Up, Little Walter for Delsey toilet tissue and James Brown for General Electric) and the cover drawing described. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
