In a reprinted mimeographed letter from levy to neal emerson, editor of Love, levy writes: "...- just sent you 2lbs of poetry mags etc & wish you luck - i cant take it here much longer & hope ill be leaving the city in one way or another very soon - i just wan to let you know that when you get busted for trying to communicate, when you get busted for trying to love... some catholic is going to get a nice paying promotion into the city hierarchy - so your blood wasnt a complete waste - yrs in the slow death d.a. levy. Some of these poems were published previously, e.g., red lady, the madiason envelope, etc.According to a letter from Alan Horvath, the publisher of this book, most copies including the Sackner copy were printed with a blue flip cover with a red image. A rarer copy had a brown cover with a black image. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
