Scope and Contents
The title "Bound in Yellow " is a reference to 'yellow' as a concept.Yellow was adopted by the 19th French decadent movement to indicate artifice and "immortality" and the colour was used in publication such as the "Yellow Book" periodical of the 1890s. In Oscar Wilde's "The Picture of Dorian Gray", the book that has a major corrupting influence on Dorian is described as 'the yellow book'. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
