Scope and Contents
Each booklet consists of eight pages printed from rubberstamped images and a related theme of two toucans (parrot-like birds) meeting famous people and restating relevant quotations. For example, in the booklet The Toucan Brothers Meet Karl Marx, the text states, "Toucans are the opium of the people! Oh yes!" In The Toucan Brothers Meet Gertrude Stein, the text says,"A toucan is a toucan is a toucan!" Each adventure is illustrated with two toucans and contains a portrait of the famous person, e.g., Will Rogers, Neil Armstrong, King Richard II, the Marx Brothers and Emily Dickinson. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
