This work by Wally Depew was designed by Linda Depew and issued in 26 lettered copies. The letter assignation was done on a post-it on the verso of the folder as well as on the colophon. The colored paper assemblage was inserted into the junction for the fastening of the paper folder. Depew designated the works in this series as Artist's Photobooks. Scope and Contents Cozette de Charmoy writes in the colophon, "In 1806 Hegel saw the Rhino pass under his window in the stsreets of Jena. He understood at once. He said to himself 'This is the end of history.' More than a century later, Alexander Kojeve saw the Rhino (a metaphor for Salin) in the streets of Moscow. He understood, he left immediately." the following was taken from a WEB site: "Kojeve was a French philosopher (1902-1968), born Aleksandr Vladimirovich Kozhevnikov in Russia. Scope and Contents This book was published on the occasion of Ulrichs' exhibition in the Stadtischen Galerie "der Welte," Iserlohn, Germany. The book consists of pornographic photographs of men and women with a famous artwork in the background of a home setting. These works are either reproductions or actual photographs of the famous works that have been collaged into the photographs and rephotographed. They include master paintings by Picasso, Dali, Warhol, Gauguin, van Gogh among others. The captions under each illustration list the name of the artist, the painting and the name of the collection. The pornographic images are not referred to. Thus, the contradiction, life=sex, is the important issue, not art! The print is an image not included in the book and depicts two Lesbians making love with van Gogh's "Iris" painting in the background. The print is stored in a small notebook in the 1904 apartment.
