This was Included in the Grant U. Roman Archive. According to a note at the bottom, this poem was composed "after Eugen Gomringer's 'ping pong.'" Wikipedia: Robert Pinget (Geneva, July 19, 1919 "“ Tours, August 25, 1997) was a major avant-garde French writer, born in Switzerland, who wrote several novels and other prose pieces that drew comparison to Beckett and other major Modernist writers. He was also associated with the nouveau roman movement. Francis Jean Gaston Alfred Ponge (27 March 1899 "“ 6 August 1988) was a French essayist and poet. Influenced by surrealism, he developed a form of prose poem, minutely examining everyday objects. He was the inaugural recipient of the Neustadt International Prize for Literature in 1974. Smith describes the book as "Epigrams, Epitaphs, Satires, Nonsense, Occasional Concrete & Quotidian Poems." This work that was acquired from a North Carolina bookseller prompted the Sackner's interest in Smith's poetry.
