Mythic Worlds, Modern Words; On the Art of James Joyce / Campbell, Joseph ; Joyce J ; Wilder T ; Dante., 2003
This book edited by Edmund L. Epstein, a Joycean scholar, provides a critical analysis of Joyce's major books. It also includes a section on Thornton Wilder's play, "The Skin of our Teeth" staged on Broadway in 1942 in which Campbell reviewed contemporaneously and argued that the play was based on Joyce's "Finnegans Wake." Wilder initially denied the charges of undue influence but in a 1957 edition of the play, he stated, "This play is deeply indebted to James Joyce's "Finnigans Wake." -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
