John Dixon Hunt contributed an introductory essay about the literary and classical references of Finlay's garden works. The book was edited by Pia Simig, who as Hunt notes, had a great deal to do with the organization of the project. Commentaries on the artworks in the garden and house of the unidentified collector who commissioned Finlay were provided by Harry Gilonis.
