The piece consists of a black, a red and yellow glossy paper sheets that are perforated with the same pattern. The consumer/participant is instructed to detach the perforated parts and create new versions of the "poem." From the slipcase: Guy Deborg is best known as the prime mover of the Situationist International ( 1957-1972), as a filmmaker, and as the author of 'The Society of the Spectacle'(1967). Alice Becker-Ho (Alice Debord) and Debord's 'A Game of War' originally appeared in 1987. Scope and Contents In Nov 1973, Finlay writes to Thorpe that he had hoped to start Archaic Carrier following Thorpe's completion of Torso Aircraft Carrier but now has decided to collaborate with him in making a game entitled, Pacific, that will be carved from wood as the next project. The letter includes information on playing this game like draughts (checkers) and instructions on its components. Thorpe writes back in Dec 1973 with his understanding of what is required from him and suggestions for wooden materials in making the pieces. In Dec 1973, Finlay writes to Thorpe that his suggestions for making Pacific seem excellent and includes further details he wishes done on its components. Thorpe replies two weeks later with further details and also sends samples of woods. A few days later, Finlay sends further instructions and complements Thorpe, "you are a continual reminder that people can collaborate in a resonable way --- something I am only too often driven to doubt by other experiences..."...

This work is Andre Thomkins (1930-1985) Fluxus take on the rotating text generator game. This is a machine that consists of 10 hexagonal cards, each with 12 words that are common in each of three languages, German, English and French (there are 48 German-French, 60 German-English and 12 German-French-English words. The hexagons pivot on a plane and form phrases in three directions on the hexagonal roof. They can even be arranged differently on the 10 slots, so that the number of combinations can further increase. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.

Fluxus Balance was organized by Mieko Shiomi who sent out the following invitation: "Write down in one of the squares on the Balance what you want to balance with something which another person wants to balance. It can be either an object/s or a concept, indicating or not indicating its weight. 68 responded including Ay-O, Eric Anderson, George Brecht, Jean Brown, Philip Corner, Jean Dupuy, Esther Ferrer, Ken Friedman, Jon Hendrics, Dick Higgins, Milan Knizak, Alvin Lucier, Ben Patterson, Daniel Spoerri, Ben Vautier and Endre Tot among others. This editition comes with printed balance, 68 returned cards and weights for adjusting the balance. All are housed in an embossed cardboard portfolio. The edition consisted of 700 numbered copies but this copy is unnumbered and labeled "sample' on back cover of folder. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
