Scope and Contents The Sackner attended the Pataphsica exhibition where this work was displayed. The Guardian February 12, 1970, Mel Godding obituary: "Roberto Sanesi, who has died aged 70, was one of the most remarkable Italian writers of his generation. A highly accomplished and prolific poet, he was capable of working in a great variety of metrical forms, and was a master of free verse. His poetry, always imbued with a certain intellectuality, ranged extensively from the confessional and anecdotal to the philosophical and metaphysical, and he could shift register with extraordinary skill, from the lyrical to the factual to the speculative, within the bound of a single poem. In this respect he had learned much from TS Eliot and Ezra Pound, whose formal diversities and virtuoso uses of poetic impersonality he adapted with great originality to his own purposes in Italian.
