Kite: Willing Wings / Finlay, Ian Hamilton., 1971
Finlay uses the kite as a metaphor for a leaflet dropping, propoganda, aircraft aimed at the Arts Council of Great Britain and the Fulcrum Press to argue his displeasure with these two groups. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
Klassische Landschaft , 1985
Two versions of a landscape by Johann Christian Reinhart are altered by the words Xaipe and W ave inscribed into stones in the foreground. The former means hail or farewell in Greek and ave in the latter picture means the same in Latin. The addition of w creating the word wave relates to the flowing spring. There is a stone in Finlay's garden inscribed WAVE/ave. Printed by the Stellar Press. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.

la poesia e prohibitiva - poetry is prohibitive / Vaccari, Franco., 1971
The recto of this piece is a listing in two columns, Italian and English, of aphorisms beginning with "poetry is...." The verso continues the listing at its top with the last line reading, "poetry is this." Below this line is an enlarged black and white photographic grid of six pictures of the same attack dog. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
La Tricoteuse / Finlay, Ian Hamilton., 1987
The title in English is "Knitter" and the image is the face of a woman. By combining the image and the caption, Finlay's intent is to paint Catherine Millet, his antagonist, as a "knitter" apparently to give the impression of her lack of seriousness on literary issues. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.

This print depicts the word "Laconic" (terse) inscribed on a guillotine blade. Beneath it on the red background is inscribed the phrase "Homage to Neo-Classicism." -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
