 Organization

Biography

The University News Service, as of 2008, is a program of the Office of University Relations. Its purpose is to help OUR fulfill its mission of "promoting awareness, understanding, and support for the University's missions of teaching, research, and service, both within the University community and among the general public." UNS staff members supply news and information about the University to print, broadcast, and electronic media.   An office of external communications has existed in some form at the University since 1896, the first year in which the annual general catalog refers to university publications. Since then, the office has undergone numerous organizational changes.
