Biography

Peter Morris Green was born on December 22, 1924 in London, England. He served in the Royal Air Force during World War II and after the war, he graduated with his Ph.D. in classics from Trinity College of Cambridge University in 1954.

In 1963, Green moved to Greece, where he worked as an indpendent scholar and translator. In 1971, he started working at The University of Texas at Austin as a visiting professor, and a year later, he accepted a full-time professorship.

Green arrived at The University of Iowa in 1997 with his wife, Carin M. C. Green, where he taught as an adjunct professor and served as the Editor of Syllecta Classica. His main classical interests are in Greek history and literature (Hellenistic in particular), and Roman elegy and satire.
