Biography

Cassandra R. Thompson Ford, known as Cassie, was born on September 8, 1889 in Wisconsin. She went west to teach school after completing the Normal School Training Course at the Richland Center (Wisconsin) High School. She met her future husband, Charles "Manly" Ford, in Wyoming, and they were married in 1914 in Stanton, Iowa. They lived on a farm just northeast of Central City, Iowa.

Ford and her husband lived on this small farm for 44 years raising cattle, sheep, horses, pigs, and chickens. Ford gardened, canned, cooked, and sewed for her family in addition to teaching Sunday School and working with the Ladies' Aid. Cassie Ford died in 1966 at the age of seventy-six
