Scope and Contents

Cards and objects of the same dimensions are stacked between two square, thick wooden plywood boards that are held together by two long screws with flanged nuts. The word "between" is printed on the cover board and blind embossed on the dividing handmade thick paper sheets. Most of the artwork relates directly to the theme of this assembling, e.g., 'zwischen' in German, 'between' in English. Cards and objects of the same dimensions are stacked into a pyramid shaped, brightly printed, colored box. The artists and poets contributed one or several pieces to this assembling. The ceramic object made by Axel Fabry is a replica of a sunny-side up egg. The booklet is made like a sandwich. The main feature of this issue was a compact disc recording by Stefan Kurt with selections of music and sound poetry. The disc was produced by Jurgen Olbrich at the No Institute. The melodic music often incorporated street sounds, for example, a travelling, steam locomotive. the 84, 35mm, color transparency slides are labeled and depict landscapes, buildings and scenes of a marketplace somewhere in Africa. The can holding this material is an appropriated Danish cookie can onto which Olbrich has collaged paper, perforated with letters on its lid and side to read, No News 39. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.

This book constitutes the originals from the exhibition at Studio im Hochhaus, Berlin, 1995 of collaborations between Hartmut Andryczuk and other artists and poets carried out from 1993-1995. On the previously folded pages, the contribution of Andryzuk is adjacent to the collaborator. One page was initiated by Andryczuk, the other by the collaborator. Scope and Contents This unique book was shown at an exhibition at Galerie 13 in Hannover, Germany from January 19 - February 24, 1996. Indeed, a catalogue reproducing the works in this book is included in a folder within the book; a brochure announcing the exhibition is also included. The book is divided into five parts, three in the first part and two in the second part of the dos-a-dos design. The first part includes Andryczuk's "Cosmographic Poetry and Art." This consists of 18 pages of rubberstamped images like an accordion and a stylized sun figure with a single letter in colored ink alongside the image. In addition, there are four pages of rubberstamped bees and drawn ink and gold figures and letters on commercially printed material.The second section entitled, "Letters for myself" consists of 18 pages of airmail envelopes collaged onto a white page which has been rubberstamped, "KOPIA" at the top and 030495 at the bottom. The title of this book in English is "Why Adolf Hitler has not become an Artist." Each of the contributing artists/poets answers this question with one or more drawings or poems. For example, Olbrich writes a sentence,"? -- It's a true story." Garnier provides three ink drawings of caricatures of Hitler that focus on his prominent facial features, his moustache and hair swept to one side.
