The collaborating artists poetically describe their work as follows: "Earth lungs, collapsing from excess, coughing clouds of acid rain, weeping sterile lakes." The background text on breathing exercises is taken from "The Complete System of Self-Healing" by Dr.S.T.Chang. Tao Te Ching writings on the outer rim of the support read "Empty yourself of everything. Let the mind rest at peace. The ten thousand things rise and fall while the Self watches their return. Sackner Database Art Floor / Shahreyar Ataie; Adriano Lambe., 2005
During Hurricane Katrina that hit MIami in August 2005, the carpet covering the floors in the two library rooms suffered enormous water damage. They were removed to prevent mildew infestation and the artists were commissioned to smooth the underlying floor, paint it a solid color and add stencilled words in gray and black paints from the Sackner Archive's database classification. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
