General
The trio in the picture above is made up of the three veteran members of the Demon's backfield, who along with the rest of the entire Washington High School football squad, are looking for their third straight victory of the current season in the game against the Panthers of Mt. Pleasant at Case Field here tonight. Bill Arthur, left, will call the plays for the Demons against the Panthers tonight from his regular blocking back position. Gary Leeper, center, and Bill Grenawalt, right, will also be on hand at the opening kick-off tonight in their usual tailback and fullback slots.; These two Washington High School football players were named as lineman and back of the week today, on the basis of their play in the game against North Scott at Bettendorf last week. At the left is Tom Stewart, defensive tackle, a veteran Washington player. At the right is Dennis Heaton, backfield standout, who transferred here from Sigourney at the start of the current school year.; Talking with veteran Demon defensive lineman Tom Stewart, left, are two newcomers to Washington High School who are currently playing a large role in the bright Demon football picture. The two outsiders who have made themselves more than welcome on the inside of the Demon football squad are Dennis Heaton, center, and Tom Hill, right. Hard-running Heaton has added both speed and drive to the Demon backfield at the wingback slot and Hill, last week selected as lineman of the week, has been playing brilliantly at the tackle and defensive end spots. Heaton is a senior transfer student from Sigourney High School and Hill, also a senior, transferred from Pella.
