Colorful marching bands, high stepping drum majorettes and lovely queens took the center of the stage in Washington Saturday as nine area high school bands appeared in the Band Day sponsored by the local Chamber of Commerce. Following a parade around the square carly Saturday afternoon, the school musicians went to Case Field for rehearsals and then appeared in a marching demonstration and massed band concert there Saturday evening The concert was conducted by Orin Ford of the Massillon, Ohio, band. Dixie Loeffer of Brighton is shown after her coronation as queen. Candidates not in the picture are Joan Weaver, Wapello, and Jacque Conrad, Keota. Several hundred spectators gathered for the afternoon parade and for the program at Case Field Saturday evening. Bill Wessler was in charge of details for the program along with Claude Woods, secretary of the Chamber of Commerce.; Keota Queen candidate and band.
