General

The time for dinner is a time for work in the kitchen at the local county home, the same as anywhere. Mrs. Keith Proctor, right, is given a willing helping hand with the task of mixing up a large pan of potatoes by one of the women residents. Mrs. and Mrs. Keith Proctor are managers of the county home.; These are three of the sixth grade students in Marion Swanson's class at Stewart School here who use a good bit of their spare time at home constructing various electrical and scientific equipment and machines. They are, from left to right, Scott Hoffmann, son of Mr. and Mrs. C.D. Hofmann, Ronnie Perdock, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Perdock, and Max Meyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Meyer. The three are working with an electromagnetic crane which they constructed at home after learning about it in science class. According to Swanson the youngsters in the class are almost all extremely interested in their studies of science and are constantly on the look out for different ways in which they can make science work for them. Looking as though they find it an enjoyable task to put science and electricity to work for them are Jerry Combs, left, Albert Brock, center, and Phil Lemke. The three boys are sixth grade students at Stewart School here and, along with their classmates, have been "putting their science lessons to work" by building such things as electromagnetic cranes, generators, electric ski lifts, and many other electric machines. The trio are members of Mrs. Ruth Simpson's sixth grade class but recelve their science instruction from another sixth grade teacher at Stewart, Mrs. Marion Swanson. Says Swanson, "It's really wonderful to see all of the youngsters so enthused and interested in their field that is new to them."
