General

#03 BAND Day - Two trombone players from the Columbus Junction band, Doug Smylie, left, and Dave Wilson; Unpublished photo showing eight of the nine Queen candidates. They were Dianne Dunn of Columbus Junction, Judy Ruby of West Liberty, Sandra Barnum of Keota, Bobbie Haberman of Wayland, Betty Coen of Danville, Junean Goschke of Mid-Prairie, Pat Messer of Wapello, Sharon Kauffman of Washington, and Robin Bueghly of Brighton. [Based on the clipping from Oct. 3, and on an unpublished photo of the Keota Band, we believe that Coen is fourth from right and Barnum is third from left. mk]; The Keota band marches behind a car carrying Sandra Barnum, that school’s contestant for Band Day Queen..
