Biographical / Historical
Born on February 17, 1881 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1901 and became a teacher. Four years later she returned to Cedar Falls and became an Assistant Supervisor at her alma mater and earned an advanced degree. She married Charles Sweetzer Aldrich in 1907. Moved to Elmwood, NE in 1909. Aldrich began to write and published her first book “Mother Mason” in 1924. She continued to write 160 short stories and articles, nine novels, two books of short stories, one novella, and one omnibus. Aldrich was given the Iowa Authors Outstanding Contributions to Literature Award in 1949. Moved to Lincoln, NE in 1945 and died there in 1954 at the age of 73.
