Gerberich Family Papers
Scope and Contents
The Gerberich Family Papers documents the Iowan branch of the Gerberiches, a large German-American family with branches across the United States. The collection includes correspondence, photographs, journals, scrapbooks, sheet music, genealogical research, and personal memorabilia. Materials reflect members' family lives, travels, education, and artist/musical endeavors.
The collection is broken up into three series: ALBUMS, BUTTKEREIT FAMILY, and GERBERICH FAMILY. Each FAMILY series includes sub-series for family members as well as miscellanious photographs, ephemera, or family research. The ALBUMS series contains various the phtograph and postcard albums of L.S. Gerberich (1849-1940). The Buttkereit family married into the Gerberichs via the union of L.S. Gerberich and Alice Buttkereit Gerberich. Of note is a conductor's baton with mother of pearl in-lay.
