Scope and Contents
The Fred Crane Chautauqua Recording Series is a collection of 10 inch and 12 inch 78 rpm phonograph records by performers closely associated with the Chautauqua traveling circuits. These recordings range in date from the early- to mid-20th century. A wide range of recording acts, from opera singers to spoken word performers to popular music artists are represented by this collection.
The recordings of Chautauqua performers for whom we have files were removed from the Crane collection and put into this collection. Other recordings collected by Fred Crane are in the Fred Crane collection, MsC 961, jlr 9/2012
The Cds in this collection have been moved to IRA Cool Storage. 4/2016. jlr
