Mercury Studios Music Tapes Made in the 1950s and 1960s
These are raw session tapes from which record producers would draw songs for masters for LP and single recordings. They include recordings from the New York and Hollywood studios and one recording from Jamaica.
These tapes, acquired from the Music Library at the University of Iowa, are numbered with two numbers - one apparently a series number and then another sequence, the highest number of which is 13. It is unknown what these series numbers and other numbers are meant to represent.
