Celia Stuelke Morley and Harold J. Morley Letters

Scope and Contents Letters, mainly between Harry J. Morley and his wife, Celia Stuelke Morley, but including a few letters from their son, Burton, from training camp for World War I. It also contains such ephemera as calling cards, telegrams, greeting cards, and invitations. Morley played baseball, probably for the railroad for which he worked, and there are some letters here about this. (Mainly about the injuried he suffered from playing ball.) In 1927, the Nashua Reporter published an article stating that Celia Stuelke Morley had played a part in a movie filmed in Nevada, The Winnng of Barbara Worth, a 1926 silent film, a western starring Ronald Colman, Vilma Banky, and Gary Cooper in his first starring role. The film is notable for its climatic scene, which depicts the 1905 man-made flood that inundated the modern Salton Sea. Celia had a small part in the film. Centro de Arte y Comunicacion (CAYC) (Center for Art and Communication) Buenos Aires

Abstract

Committed to the production and dissemination of systems art, CAYC was established as a multidisciplinary workshop in August of 1968. A collection of large scale works (each about 22 x 34 inches) was assembled in 1972 by Jorge Glusberg, CAYC Director, as an edition of 10 that circulated as traveling exhibitions. Apparently including about 72 works in 1972, the collection grew over time and the Iowa collection now consists of 143 diazo prints and appears to be the only extant copy. The collection includes a linear foot of catalogues, documentation, books and pamphlets, dating from 1970 to 1980 and a complete set of black and white photographs from which online images were derived.

Scope and Contents

The Charles Wells Science Fiction and Fanzine Collection consists of two boxes that contains materials ranging from 1952-1992. Box 1 contains four books by Sam Moskowitz, Robert Bloch, Bertram Chandler, and Harry Warner, Jr. respectively. Box 2 contains incomplete volumes of the following: Fancyclopedia II (1959), Quandry (1950-1953), Scifi 5 Yearly (1951), Slant (1952/3), inlcuding a copy of Arthur Thomson's Atom Anthology, a 10th Anniversary World Science-Fiction Convention Program (1952); and a folder with a copy of Fiendetta #2 (1952), The Chattahoochee, Okefenokee, and Ogeechee Occasional Gazette cominbed with the Wassaw and Ossabaw Backwater Journal and Tangent plus rotogravure-type section: a la Tabunko with added feature portions of Luna Pono, an incomplete copy of The Polaroid Diary, A Fanzine with Depth (1953), and loose pages from unidentified zines.
