Biographical / Historical

In 1908, Anna Marie Buys Kent emigrated from Amsterdam with her family and settled in Plymouth County, Iowa. She later graduated from the State University of Iowa in 1927 with a Bachelor of Arts in Latin as a Phi Beta Kappa scholar. Kent later moved to Washinton, D.C., obtained a teaching position, and completed a master's degree in education at George Washington University in 1936. She taught in Washington, D.C. until her retirement. Anna Marie Buys Kent passed away on January 29, 2001.
