Scrapbooks
Scope and Contents
The Lillie Friederichsen papers measure 10 linear inches and date from ca. 1912-2009. The collection contains five scrapbooks documenting the lives of the Friederichsen sisters: Lillie, Ella, and Myra. Additionally, it includes genealogical research into the Friederichsen family and materials for Kathy Wachel’s 2009 presentation about the family, which she gave at an Iowa City Genealogical Society meeting. The papers are divided into three series: Biographical, Scrapbooks, and Photographs.
The Biographical series (2007-2009, and undated) contains genealogical research about the Friederichsen family, especially Lillie, Ella, and Myra. It includes photocopied materials about Wilton, Iowa, Marengo, Iowa, and Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa as well as photocopied census records and newspaper articles featuring members of the Friederichsen family. The Biographical series also contains a printed copy of the PowerPoint presentation Wachel created based on her research.
The Scrapbooks series (1912-1927, and undated) contains five scrapbooks created by Lillie Friederichsen. Each scrapbook consists of mostly undated and unlabeled photographs of the Friederichsen sisters and their friends and family. The scrapbooks record their homes in Marengo and Muscatine, as well as a year at Cornell College while Lillie and Ella Friederichsen attended.
The Photographs Series (1919-1926, and undated) consists of six loose photographs, of the Friederichsen sisters and their friends and family and of a greenhouse.
