Scope and Contents

The Georgia Peeso Haygarth papers date from 1912 to 1952 and measure 2.5 linear inches. The Biography folder consists of a copy of Haygarth's 1952 obituary and papers pertaining to Peeso family history. Among the family history papers is a transcription of the journal Melvin Moses Peeso kept while logging in California in 1859. Haygarth's diaries span the last eleven years of her life when she was a widow living alone. The entries are filled with her daily activities, including housekeeping chores, and the activities of friends and family. From 1941 to 1945 she makes references to World War II, and she often comments on the weather and the price of crops. The last entry is less than three weeks before her death. An undated photograph of Haygarth is also included in the collection.
