Biographical / Historical

When the American Association of University Women affiliation with the International Federation of University Women (IFUW) ended in 2007, a number of organizational meetings were scheduled in the United States to form a new affiliate. In June 2007, Sarah Harder, the former vice-president of IFUW, asked Florine Swanson to serve as the first president. The name Women Graduates-USA was chosen later in the summer at an IFUW Conference in Manchester, England. On January 2, 2008, Women Graduates-USA was officially incorporated in the state of Iowa.

Women Graduates-USA focuses on the international connections and issues related to women around the world. Its advocacy programs include Access to Education for Girls and Women, Human Trafficking Awareness, and Women, Peace, and Security.
