Biographical / Historical

Clara Keran was born to Lee and Amy Keran April 14, 1900, in Missouri. She died January 5, 1998. She had a sister, Ruth Keran Ricketts, and three brothers, Claude (her twin), Lloyd, and Pierre Keran. She moved with her parents as a child to Percival, IA, where she attended grade school, and then attended high school at Hamburg. After graduation, she taught at High Creek School east of Hamburg, before marrying Gilbert Zach in 1919. They had two children, Robert and Leon Zach. Clara Keran Zach was a charter member of the Sidney American Legion Auxiliary Unit 128, and also was a member of the Sunshine Circle Club, Merry Mixers Club, and the World War I Auxiliary.
