Scope and Contents

The 20th Century Club records date from 1999 to 2017 and meassure 2.5 linear inches. The records are divided into two series: The 20th Century Club Notebook series (1999-2008), and the Personal Histories series (2015-2017). The 20th Century Club Notebook series consists of: Marilyn Harris Jackson Notebook, and a Loose Items Folder. The Personal Histories series consists of: Muscatine Authors Drafts, Biographies, Muscatine Roots, and Muscatine Markers.

Biographical / Historical

The 20th Century Club of Muscatine Iowa, was organized on November 27, 1900 with the goal to improve and develop the intellect of its members. The club consists of members and annually elected officers who attend monthly meetings and abide by the club's constitution, which can be revised at any point during the meetings. The number of members ranges from 30-35. The following officers constitute the executive board: president, vice president, recording secretary, corresponding secretary, treasurer, and historian. In addition to regular members and officers, there are 6 committees: Yearbook Committee, Adventures in Reading Committee, Auditing Committee, Budget Committee, Community Involvement Committee, and Nominating Committee. Each year a new Yearbook is printed with a list of members, officers, committees, and budget for that particular year.
