Scope and Contents

The Mary Sunier papers date from 1915 to 1965 and measure 10 linear inches. The papers are arranged in two series: Correspondence and Paul and Camilla.

The Correspondence series (1928-1965) primarily consists of handwritten letters and postcards from Mary Sunier to her sister, Camilla Sunier Jones. This series also contains handwritten letters from friends and relatives of both Camilla Sunier Jones and her husband, Paul Jones. Topics of discussion included farm life, family affairs, and the impact of national events, particularly World War II.

The Paul and Camilla series (1915-1950) contains documents that the couple had collected throughout their life together, both in Iowa City and Mt. Auburn, Iowa. These documents include local business materials, church bulletins, newspaper clippings, telephone directories, and wedding invitations. Materials pertaining to the University of Iowa and the First Christian Church located in Iowa City are also included.
