Scope and Contents

This special edition of the catalogue features an additional cover as a collage done by Klassen, Putz, Ruch and Warnke. Both outer and inner covers are collaged. The exhibition from the artist magazine collection of the late Rolf Dittmar was curated and installed by Jurgen Olbrich. It Included 350 periodicals from 25 countries which were presented in greenhouses, cases and walls. The exhibition consisted of critical, art historical and multiple art editions. The exhibition itself was arranged thematically and chronologically including "The Face of the Machine," "The Format of the Magazine," "Beginning in the 50s," "The Departure into the Present," "Literary Magazines," "Leaflets," "Art Magazines," "Fluxus Magazines," "One Artist Magazines," "Mail Art Magazines," "Assemblings," "Object Magazines," " Project and Conceptual Magazines," and " New Media." The catalogue resembles a newspaper and holder used in libraries and reading rooms. The Sackner Archive holds most of the magazines exhibited in this show but does not own several mail art assemblings that originate from Germany. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
