Scope and Contents

According to Reginald Walker, his oeuvre is concerned with mythological books. Mythological or Spirit books are ritual talismanic books and book objects symbolic of astrological, numerological, Kabbalic and prophetic divination. These shamanistic objects d'art are also based on esoteric alchemical for-mularies, sacred and obscure high words, as well as magical encantations and amulets. Aesthetically, these works represent the ancient Egyptian and Ethiopian Coptic Codex functioning as a somewhat Iconic art object; created as metamorphosic ethnic fantasies, these mythic codices are fusions of Egyptian Ethiopian, Nubian, Byzantine, Islamic, and Celtic fetish-art.Developmental materials include papyrus, vellum, parchment, alum-tawed skins, native-dyed goatskins, iron, silver, gold, bronze, copper, brass, bone, feathers, acrylics, tempera, various indigenous woods/textiles, linen, and various handmade papers.Mythological books reflect ancient, contemporary, occult, and supernatural qualities, as well as a bilevel interpretation of Western and Oriental book arts; as aesthetic objects, plant fibers (e.g., papyrus, flax and cotton)and animal skins are employed historically and symbolically. The typed sheets contain an explanation of the symbolism of the book, a description of the media of the books and an artist's statement, and a bibliography of Walker's work in which the Sackner Archive is mentioned. Thus, according to Walker, Cyph book 5 is an alchemical equation which reveals the secret art of numerical divination, according to Hindu, Chaldean, Egyption, Ethiopian, chinese and Kabbilistic interpretation. It is a book that describes the 5th number of physical man, the ruler of the Lungs and its Metaphysical properties. The orb Mercury rules "THE PERIOD OF THE FIVE"; this numerical cycle covers those souls born during, the 5th, 14th, and 23rd days of each month. The cypher 5 empowers, (through its planetary ruler), the zodiacal signs of Gemini and Virgo (the sixth sign of the zodiac). Cypher 5 rules both lungs in the Physical Body. Cypher 6, ruled by the orb Venus, empowers the zodiacal signs Libra and Taurus. "THE PERIOD OF THE SIX" covers the birthdates of those sou1s born during days 6, 15, and 24. Cypher 6 rules the upper lungs in Physical Man.The ruler of Gemini is named in the Apocalypse as AMBRIEL; his name from the stars is TOMIMIL, his name in Latin is GEMINIEL. The angel BANO created the lungs in the first Man, Adham; the angel ENTHOLLEN created the flesh of the lungs, and is ruled by Venus and cypher 6; angel IPOUSPOBOBA created the veins of the lungs and is ruled by Mercury and cypher 5. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
