Scope and Contents

Kostelanetz defines 'Text-sound' to mean "language unspecific in pitch, which coheres in terms of sound, rather than syntex or semantics." This book consists of scores, manifestos, self-interviews, scripts, performance instructions, critical essays, and theoretical remarks. In Walter Abish's three page story, "Auctioning Australia," all the words begin with the letter 'a.' Kenneth King's "Word Raid" consists of seven pages of tongue twisters. The dust jacket depicts a sound poem by Bliem Kern. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
