Although Cobbing is not generally thought of as composing language poetry, the clusters of seemingly meaningless words and unrelated phrases could place this book into such a category. It is of interest that Cobbing had later collaborations with Bruce Andrews, a recognized language poet. "Whississippi" written in London and recorded in Stockholm, is the fourth part in a series of whisper pieces consisting of a vocal interpretation of typewriter-picture poems based of the letters in the words "whisper piece." It was read by two voices (Kersten M. Lundberg & Bob Cobbing) and then manipulated in the recording studio.
