Gawsworth (Armstrong)/Shiel/Redonda Papers

Abstract

Papers and manuscripts of the lyrical poet and second King of Redonda; some papers for M.P. Shiel, fantasy writer and first King of Redonda; some papers on the Kingdom of Redonda. Letters from Gawsworth's days as editor; many of his poems written in his hand, most of them unpublished. 21 notebooks and several photographs. These notebooks are mostly from the World War II era and document his experiences in the RAF in North Africa and Italy, as well as his literary musings and studies, including a list of authors in North Africa.

Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Allies Union Records

Scope and Contents

Noncurrent records of the GLBTAU and a collection of gay-lesbian-bisexual-transgender magazines and newsletters, nearly all published in the United States, were transferred to the University of Iowa Archives, October 22, 1996. The records consist of six cartons of correspondence and subject folders, including newsletter issues, photographs, and publications.The records concern homosexuality, bisexuality, gender identity issues, related health and political issues, and social activities, especially pertaining to University of Iowa students. Other GLBT student organizations in Iowa and other Midwestern states are represented, along with the University of Iowa Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Staff and Faculty Association.

Gene Stewart fan collection

The paper materials in this collection related to Gene Stewart's participation in fandom of which he was an active member and contributor. Through things such as the Fantasy Rotator, a communication apparatus of "The Cult," the fandom that Gene belonged to, you can see Stewart's letters, illustrations, and writings. Other amateur press zines and publications can also be found in this collection as well under three main series are LASFAPA, PUBLICATIONS, and THE CULT AND FANTASY ROTATOR.
