The Joni Kinsey papers, 1984-2024, consists of class syllabi, transcripts of "talks," selected correspondence, and planning material from art exhibitions related to her work as a professor of American Art History at UI from 1991 to 2024. Notably, the collection contains photographs, printed materials, reviews, and planning documentation relating to the exhibition "Plain Pictures: Images of the American Prairie." a 1996 loan exhibition at the University of Iowa Museum of Art, Amon Carter Museum in Fort Wroth, and Joslyn Museum in Omaha.

Leo W. and Ruth Newman Schwarz papers

Scope and Contents The materials in this collection are the personal papers of Leo W. Schwarz, who, as Director of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) in 1946-1947, oversaw the rehabilitation and resettlement of displaced persons following World War II. Schwarz later held the position of Visiting Professor of Judaic Studies at the University of Iowa's School of Religion.The largest grouping of materials in the collection relates to Schwarz's own writings and the several anthologies he edited. This series is further divided into work that is substantially original to Schwarz and collected research/contributions from other authors. The former includes draft and final manuscripts, manuscripts edits, notes, book chapters, interview transcripts, book ideas, and publication records. Scope and Contents The manuscript file collection on early University of Iowa history is a rich source on 19th-century and early 20th-century developments at the University of Iowa. It consists of the University's earliest known records documenting its business transactions, academic activity, and external communications. For the most part the material was prepared or received by William J. Haddock (1832-1906), secretary to the Board of Trustees, later Regents, from 1864 to 1901. It is also considered the foundation collection of the University Archives, as it resulted from the first institutional attempts to document University of Iowa history. Many types of records comprise the collection: correspondence, receipts from Iowa City businesses and those located in Des Moines, Chicago, New York and elsewhere, official memos, expense records, contractor's bids, applications for employment, letters of reference, resignations, status reports of buildings and departments, supply requests, signed protests...
