Scope and Contents From the Collection: This collection contains media fandom materials collected and created by Joan Marie Verba beginning from when she joined fandom in 1969 up until the mid-2010s when the collection was acquired. The materials are primarily related to Star Trek fandom but also include Man from U.N.C.L.E., general science fiction and fantasy, Christian SFF, Gerry Anderson’s Thunderbirds, Marion Zimmer Bradley’s Darkover, and the Mythopoeic Society (Tolkien and C.S. Lewis). The collection also contains a number of zines relating to editing, publishing, and writing, as well as some Minneapolis-centric publications. Despite health problems, Verba attended many fan conventions and collected pamphlets, programs, brochures, name tags, and other papers. There are also a number of cassette tape recordings from conventions. This collection contains zines from a wide range of media fandoms. Single fandom zines are listed in the series FANDOM, MULTIFANDOM AND CROSSOVER zines are listed by title in their own series, and a small number of zines that fit into neither category are listed in VARIOUS.

The three fandoms which make up much of the collection are Blake's 7 [boxes 2-38], Doctor Who [boxes 39-54], and Star Trek: The Original Series [boxes 66-95].

Scope and Contents From the Collection: The Lynda Mendoza Collection consists of materials concerning the actor David McCallum and his performing career, particularly the television show that made him famous - The Man From U.N.C.L.E. (1964-1968). The collection is an excellent representation of the variety of materials that can be produced as a result of a particular media fandom. Materials include correspondence, press clippings, realia, posters, photographs, and audio recordings, among others.Correspondence: This series contains correspondence to and from Mendoza, mostly concerning her fan activities. One folder consists of letters exchanged between Mendoza and McCallum.Assorted U.N.C.L.E./McCallum Material: This series is a catch-all, taking in materials relating to both McCallum and The Man From U.N.C.L.E.
