Scope and Contents From the Collection: At the time of the gift, Dunn wrote, "I . . .amassed [during the 1980s] a significant collection of audio cassettes from the 'Home Taper' underground movement. These are tapes made by committed amateur musicians and sound artists that were self-published and self-distributed in editions numbering anywhere from 1 to perhaps a few hundred copies." The collection includes two boxes of videotapes and a number of small art works which incorporate audio cassettes. Boxes 1-14 contain audio cassettes,Viedo boxes 1 and 2 contain video tapes and document Boxes 1-3 contain paper based materials. The collection is arranged by format, since housing the different formats made this desirable. Series I, the largest series, contains audio cassettes. Scope and Contents From the Collection: This collection contains media fandom materials collected and created by Joan Marie Verba beginning from when she joined fandom in 1969 up until the mid-2010s when the collection was acquired. The materials are primarily related to Star Trek fandom but also include Man from U.N.C.L.E., general science fiction and fantasy, Christian SFF, Gerry Anderson’s Thunderbirds, Marion Zimmer Bradley’s Darkover, and the Mythopoeic Society (Tolkien and C.S. Lewis). The collection also contains a number of zines relating to editing, publishing, and writing, as well as some Minneapolis-centric publications. Despite health problems, Verba attended many fan conventions and collected pamphlets, programs, brochures, name tags, and other papers. There are also a number of cassette tape recordings from conventions. She was part of the Star Trek Welcommittee for 20 years, an avid correspondent, and edited and published a number of Star Trek zines. Masters of her zines can be found in the collection, as...

Scope and Contents From the Collection: The ATCA (Alternative Traditions in the Contemporary Arts) Periodicals and Zines Collection consists of journals, newspapers, and zines dating from the 1960's to 2003. Most of these periodicals are art related or have artistic merit; however, the collection also includes periodicals concerned with music, film, poetry, politics, religion, and sexual orientation. The collections occupies some 56 linear feet plus 19 oversize boxes and a map file drawer of folio oversize materials.The place of publication for each title has been recorded when known. For locations in the United States, city and state is noted; for foriegn locations, city and country is noted when known. Volume and issue numbers and dates are also recorded when known. Many titles do not have volume numbers. When a title was not assigned volume and issue numbers by the publisher but carries an indication of the year of issue, the number of issues present in the collection for that year is noted....

Scope and Contents From the Collection:

Beauty and the Beast was a network television series that aired for three seasons between 1987 and 1990, and starred Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton. This collection represents materials relating to Beauty and the Beast fandom, inlcuding fanzines, fan art, and commercial materials. A notable feature of this collection is the Ron Perlman Information and Research Library, a fan-made archive assembled by the donor. The Library was originally housed in three-ring binders, but has since been disbound. The pages of the Library and its index are contained in this collection, along with a large number of miscellaneous Beauty and the Beast and Ron Perlman scrapbook pages. The collection also includes many newspaper and magazine clippings relating to the show and its stars.
