Scope and Contents

The Charles Wells Science Fiction and Fanzine Collection consists of two boxes that contains materials ranging from 1952-1992. Box 1 contains four books by Sam Moskowitz, Robert Bloch, Bertram Chandler, and Harry Warner, Jr. respectively. Box 2 contains incomplete volumes of the following: Fancyclopedia II (1959), Quandry (1950-1953), Scifi 5 Yearly (1951), Slant (1952/3), inlcuding a copy of Arthur Thomson's Atom Anthology, a 10th Anniversary World Science-Fiction Convention Program (1952); and a folder with a copy of Fiendetta #2 (1952), The Chattahoochee, Okefenokee, and Ogeechee Occasional Gazette cominbed with the Wassaw and Ossabaw Backwater Journal and Tangent plus rotogravure-type section: a la Tabunko with added feature portions of Luna Pono, an incomplete copy of The Polaroid Diary, A Fanzine with Depth (1953), and loose pages from unidentified zines.

The bulk of the collection is comprised of monthly bundles from amateur press associations during 1990 and 1991, including the Amalgamated Printers Association, the National Amateur Press Association, and Peat's press. Items from Geringer's Press, clippings about Geringer, a miscellaneous collection of samples of printing, and several editions of his small journal, People Watcher make up the remainderof the collection.

Mary Jennara Wenk Star Trek Collection

This collection contains creations from the Star Trek and Star Wars fandoms of the 1970s and 1980s, with some material as early as 1966 and as recent as 2016 (the Star Trek 50th Anniversary).

Mary Jennara Wenk was an active member of the Star Trek and Star Wars fan communities of the time, attending conventions, collecting fan art, and engaging in lively correspondence with other fans, as well as creating award-winning content for fanzines. This collection represents her active lifestyle, containing a number of Star Trek zines, a sizable stack of fan art--including a painting done by surprise artist Hal Clement--correspondence, convention material, and an impressive collection of 3D objects. This last category notably includes a pair of ears worn on the set by Leonard Nimoy (and the Barbie purse in which they were delivered), three handmade dolls, a hand-carved shell, and two Starfleet Academy class rings.
