Xylocaine, 1982
Broaddus was not concerned with the integration of text and image during this period but used the pages of books as scaffolds for his colored, cut-out visual esthetic effects. This book was the first artist book that was purchased by the Sackners who up until that time had focused on collecting only works of concrete and visual poetry. This work was exhibited at the Agnes Scott College Gallery, Atlanta, January 2001. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
